除了投訴信可以使用比較強(qiáng)烈的語氣外,其他信件最好采用比較禮貌和客氣的用語。一般來說,如果和收信人比較熟悉,那么正式的語言就不是非常合適;對(duì)比而言,如果和收信人不是非常熟悉,那么用正式的語言比較恰當(dāng)。書信主體部分的內(nèi)容詳見“書信的分類”。簽名可以隨便寫,不一定要寫自己的真名,如Mary, Jane, Bill, Tom等。在寫投訴信的時(shí)候,要注意以下內(nèi)容:l 具體描述當(dāng)時(shí)的情形,譬如說,人物、時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)和原因。(Specify what the problem is.)l 概括說明問題所產(chǎn)生的后果。(Make and justify a specific claim.)l 清晰說明讀信的人可以做什么來補(bǔ)救目前的局面。(Suggest solutions and specify deadlines or time limits.)l 未必一定要使用激烈的言辭,最好使用比較禮貌的用語。在寫咨詢信的時(shí)候,要注意以下內(nèi)容:l 指明你所需要的信息。(Indicate why you need this information.)l 指明你什么時(shí)候需要信息。(Avoid vague or general letters.)l 要求對(duì)方迅速回復(fù)的時(shí)候要禮貌。在寫求助信的時(shí)候,要注意以下內(nèi)容:l 闡述你所需要的幫助。(Justifyyour request.)l 說服讀信的人答復(fù)并同意你的要求。(Offer incentives, ., money.)l 說明時(shí)間期限。在寫道歉信的時(shí)候,要注意以下內(nèi)容:l 對(duì)錯(cuò)誤提出解釋,并提出有力的觀點(diǎn)和側(cè)重事實(shí)。(Avoid blaming others.)l 提出解決方法。(Satisfy the readers emotions.)l 建立信用和信任。(Bepoliteandthoughtfiilm vocabulary and tone.)5. 建議信/提供信息信(letter to provide information or advice)建議信在雅思考試中也比較普遍,出現(xiàn)的機(jī)會(huì)大概是20%。在信件的開始部分,常出現(xiàn)reference to...”或者“I am pleased to learn that...”這些字眼,表示已經(jīng)知道對(duì)方的計(jì)劃和意向。(Offer advice in great detail.)l 根據(jù)要求提供信息。(Stress all matters of importance.)l 將最重要的建議放在首位。(Show willingness to provide further support.)6. 感謝信(letter of thanks)感謝信在雅思作文中非常少見。在寫感謝信的時(shí)候,要注意以下內(nèi)容:l 表示謝意。(Stress the importance of the support.)l 維持和收信人的關(guān)系。原因再能是考試中心覺得移民到新的國家,短時(shí)間不大可能會(huì)寫邀請(qǐng)信。(Outline the event, function, plan or activity.)l 指定被邀請(qǐng)參加的人。(Specify the date, address and time.)l 如果恰當(dāng)?shù)脑?,清楚地說明對(duì)著裝的要求。(Set the deadline of reply.)8. 求職信(letter of application)理論上,求職信應(yīng)該是雅思作文重點(diǎn)考查的內(nèi)容,畢竟移民到了一個(gè)國家,首先要求職。在寫求職信的時(shí)候,要注意以下內(nèi)容:l 明確指出自己為什么對(duì)該工作感興趣。(Adapt the letter to a job.)l 準(zhǔn)確回應(yīng)雇主的要求。(Emphasise the most relevant details, ., education, experience and talents.)l 爭(zhēng)取做到簡(jiǎn)潔和清晰。(Write a personal letter.)l 留下地址和名字。2.
