Generally, there are two parts in this paperthe spindle box and the driving system on the Z axis. The design of the spindle box include the model selection of the electric machine, speed control systemwhich is the key and difficult points in this paper, the strength checking of the axis and the design of the driving system. Firstly, the selection of the electric machine that is based on the parameters that are known from the sheets through the rated torque and rated speed. The electric machine should own the capacities of energy conservation and save money that is based on the function that satisfy the operating requirement. Secondly, the design of speed control system should analysis by synthesis the factors that including the equipment life, safety factor, efficiency and the general structure features to allocate the speed ratio that could optimize the running. The design of driving system must considerate the weight of the cutter sets, the size of the principal axis and the maximum cutter travel to determine the size of the ball screw, then confirm the other accessories. Through the design, the students could have a further understanding of mechanical processing equipment, in the meantime, mastering institutions such as variable speed reducer design methods, set up rigorous design concept, so as to achieve the purpose of the prehensive training, go to work to lay a solid foundation for the future.
