ter were all gifts from nature. What’s more, Thoreau is man who like pondering and observing. As he describes the pickerel in his book Walden: “when I see them lying on the ice, or in the well which the fisherman cuts in the ice, making a little hole to admit the water, I am always surprised by their rare beauty, as if they were fabulous fishes, they are so foreign to the streets, even to the woods, foreign as Arabia to our Concord life” (Henry David Thoreau 221). Examples that can show Thoreau is keen on observing are numberless. Just because this kind of habit, he could get to know the natural character of various things on the earth, and deeply intoxicated in the nature. When studying in Harvard University, Thoreau wore green clothes while other students wore black ones as the school ordered. Perhaps green is his expectation to life. Thoreau is a man who hated 3 to live an immutable life, and his character is marked by antidogmatism. He believed a unchanged life would lead to desperation to life. “A mess of men lead lives of quite desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city you go into desperate country, and have to console yourself with bravery minks and muskrats” (Henry David Thoreau 5). Thoreau also emphasizes on practice, and he thinks nature could teach everything human being need. We can live a substantial life as long as we place ourselves in nature. “Where we live in nature likes a fairyland. You can walk in any direction towards the earth39。 he is a poet who sings of the iv nature。本文擬通過對梭羅自然觀的研究,引起人們對自身不合理行為的注意,改變貪婪、浮躁以及不真實(shí)的個(gè)性,從而親近自然、善待自然,恢復(fù)純真的人性,填補(bǔ)精神的空白。梭羅是十九世紀(jì)美國超驗(yàn)主義代表作家之一,他是一位生態(tài)文學(xué)作家,是一位自然詩人,是踐行簡樸生活的自然兒女。Thoreau’s View of Nature A Thesis Submitted to College of Foreign Language Qufu Normal University Xingtan College In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements For the Degree of Bachelor of Arts ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my supervisor, Zhuhe for the work she did the last few months.
