【正文】 量 礦物 mineral 晶體 crystal The power of (mineral) crystals 表面看來，沒有任何物質(zhì)比巖石更沒有生命跡象的了。 最近有實(shí)驗(yàn)顯示，要不是有礦物協(xié)助，這些關(guān)鍵變化根本就不可能發(fā)生。因此，化學(xué)反應(yīng)必定是生命起源的第一步。 四十億年前，地球上沒有生物；是化學(xué)改變了地球的表面，而不是生物。礦物從簡(jiǎn)單分子長(zhǎng)成有序結(jié)構(gòu)，就是透過化學(xué)反應(yīng)。 ? 催化 catalyze ? 關(guān)鍵性的 – critical, crucial, decisive ? 化學(xué)反應(yīng) – chemical reaction ? 演化 – evolution Minerals could have catalyzed some crucial chemical reactions, thus some important molecules related (critical) to the life evolution were created (produced) Exercise 2: 礦物晶體的力量 表面看來，沒有任何物質(zhì)比巖石更沒有生命跡象的了。 ? 惡劣 – bad, adverse, abominable, dreadful, awful ? 強(qiáng)烈的 – strong, intense ? 紫外線 – ultraviolet radiation ? 分解 depose ? 聚合的 – synthetic, synthesized ? 因此 – therefore, so, hence, consequently ? 伸展的 – extensive 在原始地球的惡劣環(huán)境中，強(qiáng)烈的紫外線往往會(huì)快速分解剛聚合的分子，因此，要將小分子連結(jié)成這些複雜，伸展的結(jié)構(gòu)，也就特別困難。 Recently, some experimental results show that minerals, which are the fundamental constituents of rocks, might have played an important role in the processes of creating (or forming) life (or in the lifeforming processes).
