Agantry crane, a tyremounted or trackmountedmobile crane, a chain hoist or any othersuitable equipment must be used to lift andhandle the heavy ponents of the crusherwhen installing the machine or replacing wearparts.Refer to Table 31 for the weights of the maincrusher ponents.Only use suitable approved equipment andbraided metal cables of the correctweightbearing capacity.When raising the plete crusher unit, attachthe braided metal cables as shown inFigure 31.ATTENTIONNever stand or work under a suspendedload.Figure 31 Lifting the crusher Safety device for frame openingOne proximity sensor is fitted to the split of theframe near the pivoting bolts. When activated,they detect if the frame is open or closed. Forsafe crusher operation, the crusher motor andthe hydraulic power pack motor must both beslaved to them.ATTENTIONWhen the sensor show that the frameis closed, crusher motor and hydraulicpower pack operation are authorised toenable the first screen to be tramped. Ifan attempt is made to open the framewhile the crusher is working, the slavesystem instantaneously shuts down thepower pack and stops the crusher motor.The rotation sensor will only authorisepower pack restart once the rotation rateis zero. Crusher feederThe crusher will only work at maximumefficiency if a sufficient quantity of feed issupplied in a constant way and at the correctwidth for the crushing cavity. Normally,material is fed to an impact crusher by meansof a vibrating feeder or an apron feeder.Feeder equipment must be installed in such away as to ensure that the materials are feddirectly towards the crushing cavity and notonto the side liners of the frame.ATTENTIONNever feed metallic or uncrushable partsinto the crusher as they could damage itby jam or overload.The feed system must always be shut downbefore the crusher. Interlocking the feeder tothe crusher is the ideal way to shut down thecrushing station.
