【正文】 ng and the students answer the English word, and vice versa.Step3 Production Mark off the Chinese meaning of these new words in the new passage.HomeworkRecite the new vocabularyCompared with Class A, the teaching procedure in Class B is evidently simpler. The teacher only narrated the meaning of the new vocabulary and finished the teaching task. The students just recited the content following the teachers’ order rather than prehended the connotative meaning. Obviously, it’s a typical mechanical memory method which is opposite to Class A. Applying this learning method, the students might keep the knowledge in mind for one or two days, but it wouldn’t last long time. Through strongly repeating and reading the words, perhaps they can remember it in the current time. However, lacking of the knowledge construction in their mind, the students would forget for a short time.4 Results and discussion Next two days, the teacher will conduct the word dictation. After finish the whole unit, conduct a unit test to check them. Data present Here are the data from dictation test.Table1ClassFull Mark(100)Good(8099)Passing(6079)Not Passing 60Class A1020105 Class B 6 16 15 8 Here are the data from unit examinationTable2ClassExcellent RatePassing RateNot Passing RateAverage Mark Class A 22% 71% 7% 85 Class B 15% 68% 17% 78 The analysis of the resultsFrom these two test consequences, we can clearly see that Class A students have got much better results than Class B. In the dictation test, the excellent rate is close to 66%, while Class B is only %, below a half. Besides, the not passing quantity of Class B is more than Class A. We also can find that there are 40 students have reached 60, just 5 students have not passed, that means the passing rate is as far as %. However, the students in Class B who have got the full and good marks are apparent lower than Class A.In table 2, it is evident that both the excellent rate and passing rate in Class A are much higher than Class B, particularly the excellent rate accounts for 22%. In Class B, 17% of students have not passed the examination, whereas, Class A is just 7%, much less than Class B. Furthermore, the average mark of these two classes are obviously different, Class A is as far as 85, more than the excellent mark 80, conversely, Class B is only 78. DiscussionAbove the analysis of data, it’s obvious that vocabulary dictation results of the students in Class A are higher than Class B and the test scores are also better. That’s to say that Class A students who had taken the efficient method have the better learning efficiency than Class B.Because the memorythroughunderstanding method is also called the meaningful method, it adopts to understand the logical relevance and the related former knowledge experience among every section of material. Thus the memorythroughunderstanding method has two distinct features: one is to analyze and recognize material carefully and clarify the essence of content, another is to put the learnt knowledge into practice. The memorythroughunderstanding method is an efficient learning method. It is benefit to consolidate the content we have learnt. Students’ learning efficiency is generally attributed to the efficient learning method and the scientific memory method is the key to English learning. In the process of text teaching, the teachers should make the most of this method, guide Class A students to bine the logical relevance and the related former knowledge of the text with their personal minds. That’s the information process of meaningful method. While Class B students who use the lower effective memory method, the mechanical memory method , it produces inferior consequence which is worse than the former group. Class A students’ learning efficiency is superior to Class B students’, and the memorythroughunderstanding method is good to improve learning abilities. The result indicates that the effects of different memory method applied, and the students’ high learning efficiency is determined by the effective memory method through understanding in English class. Moreover, there are several questions concerning students39。 only through practice may the listeners really know how much they have acquired and consolidate what they have already mastered. Both the meaning of the listening materials and the new words can be reinforced in the process of oral expression. Reviewing oral expression may be helpful to strengthen one39。 (Smith, 1997: ). Relationship between the method and learning efficiencyIt is known to all that memory is the learning method. So a good memory is the proper way or tool to reach a high learning efficiency. The things have understood are better to memorize and they contributes to consolidate learning. Take oral expression in listening prehension process for example. Linguists39。 only through practice may the listeners really know how much they have acquired and consolidate what they have already mastered. Both the meaning of the listening materials and the new words can be reinforced in the process of English learning. Zhao Guangping, Cheng Shuhua. The interaction of psychology process and improvement of listening ability [J].CELEA Journal (Bimonthly), 2006, 29(2):113115.Zhao and Cheng (psychologists) claim that the whole process of listening prehension involves mental perception, imagination, guess, logical reference, and memory. According to schema theory, in the process of listening, when a listener receives the new information which stimulates his previous knowledge in his schema, he will decode, reconstruct and put the information together into a coherent discourse (Liu, 1998). 劉鐵梅. 掌握心理學規(guī)律,科學記憶英語詞匯[N]. 廣東行政學院報1999,(2). Moreover, the bottomup processing model assumes that listening is a process of decoding the sounds from the smallest me
