There are geographic regions in the world where NPC is endemic, such as in Southeast Asia, or northern Africa, where the annual incidence can be up to 1/4000. A novel optical biopsy system based on the laserinduced fluorescence for the diagnosis and localization of early NPC has been successful developed, which coupled the excitation light into the original whitelight transmission system of mercial nasal endoscope and characterized by coaxial imaging for both the fluorescence image and twilight image from the same targets.
