They XI just put this goal into practise in different ways .For Carrie ,she equates the happiness with material and acquiring it at the cost of sacrificing herself to two Hurstwood, authority is his desire, but he just has acquired it in wrong Drouet, he is the kind of pernon,who just idles away their time and waste their lives. Everyone is struggling for happiness ,but they are walking far from the goal .so what39。t love Carrie any fact ,he never loves Carrie from the beginning to the end. However ,Dreiser defend for him in the words of narrator,he was a nice, goodhearted man, There was nothing evil in the fellow.
