This Side of Paradise is his first novel, published in 1920. It is the novel that makes him stand out overnight. The novel not only vividly reflects the disillusion of American dream, but it also shows the mental outlook of the upper class at the time. At the moment, foreign research on Fitzgerald is more prehensive, with distinctive features. The studies of many lifetimes are mainly based on the experience of the writer and its influence on his creation. Ruth Prigozy revealed unknown experience of Fitzgerald in The Unpublished Stories Fitzgerald in His Final Stage. Scott Donaldson introduced and interpreted autobiography works of Fitzgerald in The Crisis of Fitzgerald’s CrackUp and he tried to look for ego remains in Fitzgerald’s novels. Richard Lehan explored literature creating idea and his life experience’s influence on creation in F. Scott Fitzgerald and Romantic Destiny. The studies on his creation thought mainly focus on his works’ significance in the present age and profound critical thinking. Leo and Miriam Gurko analyzed that Fitzgerald’s novel represented his own experience and thought and it was personal experiential creation in The Essence of F. Scott Fitzgerald. At the same time, it also reflected overall, general experience and ideas of a young generation, so it was popular creation. Stephen L. Tanner in Fitzgerald’s Lost City expounded figures’ lostness in the novel. Mitchell Breitwieser emphasized strong power of reappearing social situation in Jazz Fractures: F. Scott Fitzgerald and Epochal Representation. Beyond that, Lewis A. Turlish pointed that there was feature of spacetime by historical relativity theory in The Rising Tide of Color: A Note on the Historicism of The Great Gatsby. Furthermore, Roger L. Pearson deeply analyzed the results of disillusioned American dream in Gatsby: False Prophet of the American Dream. What’s more, those studies on creation art begin to study Fitzgerald’s creation according to the artistic form and they intend to show that Fitzgerald is a literary artist with consummate art. Glenn Settle specifically analyzed the way to shaping the hero by the voice. Frances Kerr discussed the technique of expression of art in Fitzgerald’s works.
