y in which there is no slavery and no discrimination and the black and the white can live together equally. Heroism emphasizes the braveness and the courage of the people. Jim runs away to hunt for his freedom bravely. He may not be a hero, but his braveness shows a kind of heroism. C. Old Finn’s Contempt for Authority If Huckleberry’s anarchism and Jim’s anarchism conform to the social development trend, the Old Finn’s anarchism is on the opposite side. As we have mentioned, Old Finn often gets drunk. Once he is drunk he insults the authority. “Call this a government! Why, just look at it and see what it is like.”(The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn 39) First, he is not satisfied with a piece of rule that a nigger could not be sold if he has not lived in the state for a whole six mouths. Second he is angry because there is a state in which the niggers get the right of voting. Third, he is wrathful that the court has the right to take his son away from him. He is illiterate and uncivilized, and he is deeply influenced by the racial discrimination. However, he is still against the authority. At least, he has the courage to insult the authority, which can be regarded as a kind of heroism.D. Egoism of the King, the Duke and SherbornAnarchism has a branch named egoism. According to Max Stirner, egoists will join together only when it has something to do with their personal benefits. The King and the Duke are two typical egoists. Benefit is the only reason that the two swindlers are tied together. Together, they get money by playing some pieces of famous dramas, by fooling the unsophisticated people. They join together to rob the money of Mary and her sisters. They do everything for their own interest, paying no attention to others’ feeling. In a town named Arkensas, a drunk man named Porges tries to insult Sherborn by saying some unenlinghtened words. The result is that Sherborn gets angry and shoots him to death. A man is killed but the killer does not feel ashamed. Sherborn debates why he should not be killed. He cherishes his own life, but he pletely ignores the value of others’ life. He is also an egoist. More importantly, he sentences Porges to death without the judgement of the court or any legal institute. He defies the goevernment and ignores the gorvernmental rules and the authority. He is not a hero, but he has the courage to stop others from insulting himself and he gets the braveness to defend himself. The braveness and the courage show us a kind of heroism.ConclusionDuring the adventural experiences of the white boy Hucklberry and the black slave Jim, Hucklberry gets to know many people. Some of them are badly affected by the money worship, some of them show rockribbed racial discrimination. In the book, white boy Hucklebrry gets to know the good personality of the black people. He makes friends with the black slave Jim. Jim is not a slave in the book but a man who is as great as the white can be. Through the analysis of Huckleberry, Jim, Old Finn, and so on, it is not hard to find that they are not heroes but they do show a kind of heroism in one way or another. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain not only criticizes the barbarousness of armed fighting because of the family hatred, reveales irrationality of the lynch, also he blames the evil of the slavery. More importantly, he praises the good quality of the black slaves, indicates that the black people have good qualities just as the white people have, and advocates that all people have access to freedom, no matter white or black.
