Our Suggestions to the Federation Although recent years has seen rapid economic growth in China, we are clearly aware that our country is still a developing one, with over 40 million people living under the poverty line and natural disaster frequently occurring. So far this year, we have already suffered snowstorm in Altai, Xinjiang, and drought in Guangxi and Guizhou. Although China’s international assistance is limited in moary terms, our aids to other developing countries are sincere and with no strings attached. We wish to have the Federations understanding of China’s responsibility in the Movement and continued support. There is still a long way to go before RCSC turns into a strong national Society that plays an important role internationally. We wish the Federation could provide more technical support to help build up the capacity of Chinese Red Cross staff (. set up Expert Assessment Team posed of both Chinese and international delegates) ? The Leadership Meeting provides a very good forum for East Asian National Societies. However, with the fast changes of the world and the trade and economic development of ASEAN, it is time for the Federation to consider expanding the coverage of this forum to the ASEAN countries。 ? The Federation shall sum up best practices of National Societies, and provide wider platform of experience sharing and exchanges. (. The Charity Parade anized by Red Cross branch in Guangdong, China is a very good example that could be introduced internationally.) Our Suggestions to the Federation To conclude, we look forward to strenghtened friendly exchanges and cooperation with colleagues in East Asia with the support of the Federation.
