In the the Lyme Regis Museum. C. In London Museum. D. In Paris Museum. 由最后一句 “...will go on public display at the Lyme Regis Museum.” B C If you39。re someone who is eager to do something beyond the ordinary, you must have figured out by now that there will always be those who are jealous or resentful(怨恨 ) of your success. It doesn39。t matter that you39。ve worked long and hard to get where you are, nor that you39。ve made great sacrifices in achieving your goals. The “haters” will always find a reason to speak ill of you and even condemn you. They39。re spiteful (恨的 ) people who envy you the pride you have in yourself and the recognition you39。re receiving from others. They can39。t stand it that you39。re happy, fulfilled and achieving your goals. These hateful individuals are unwilling to do the work that you39。ve done. They hate your success but are too lazy to invest real time or energy in achieving their own goals. The thing you need to know about these haters is that the only reason they behave this way is that you have something they want, but they aren39。t willing to work for it. The haters are convinced that you39。ve been lucky or that you39。ve had some unfair advantage, but the truth is that your success is born of your untiring efforts, and it39。s these efforts that have brought about your “l(fā)uck.” The best way to deal with haters is what I call the “one173。two punch.” First, don39。t let them hurt you. Be happy about your success and proud of your acplishments. Company with those who approve you, recognize you and support you, and never doubt that you deserve all the success. The haters are angry, jealous people. What they think or say is meaningless. Next, the more the haters annoy you, the more you should be motivated to succeed. They want to ruin you, but your response should be to work that much harder in order to increase your level of success. When your reaction to their bad behavior has inspired you to achieve further success, you39。ve transformed the haters39。 negativity (消極 ) into fuel for your creative fires. Not only can they not hurt you but they39。ve inspired you onto even greater heights by chance. 28. Why will the “haters” always find a reason to speak ill of you ? A. They care more about you. B. You always work too hard. C. You are lazy but proud. D. They envy you the success. D 29. According to the passage, one of the best ways to deal with haters is ________. A. to get rid of them B. to work even harder C. to share the happiness D. to motivate them 解析: 細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù) They want to ruin you, but your response should be to work that much harder in order to increase your level of 式是更加努力地工作,故選 B。 B 30. What39。s the author39。s attitude to the “haters” ? A. supportive. B. sympathetic. C. angry. D. critical. D 31. What is the main purpose of the last paragraph? A. To encourage those who are envied. B. To present an active opinion. C. To teach haters a lesson. D. To give information about success. 故選 A。 A D The United Nations Environment Programme is calling for urgent action to reduce growing risks from chemicals. Better management of chemicals could save millions of lives and billions of dollars. As estimated, 143,000 chemicals are now produced. Yet the report says only a small number of these chemicals have been studied for their effects on human health and the environment. It says death and disability rates are high from the unsafe use of chemical products. Sylvie Lemmet, director of the United Nations Environment Programme, says poor management of chemicals has a high economic cost. For example, she says the cost is higher than the amount of overseas development aid, or ODA, for health care in sub- Saharan Africa. She says, “Look at the estimated cost of poisoning from pesticide in sub -Saharan Africa, only the injury and the loss of working time is estimated to be billion US dollars in 2021. This is higher than the total ODA that is going to the health sector in the same area.” The United Nations Environment Programme estimates that chemical sales worldwide will increase by around three percent a year until 2050. Chemical production is moving quickly from developed to developing countries. By 2020, chemical production is expected to increase by 40 percent in Africa and the Middle East and 33 percent in Latin America. One of its biggest concerns is pollution of rivers and lakes by pesticides and fertilizer. Other major concerns are heavy metal pollution from the production of cement and textiles, and dioxin pollution from mining. The UN report urges the chemical industry and governments to work together to develop safety policies. It says preventing harm costs less than fixing it. 32. The purpose of Paragraph 3 is mainly to indicate that ________.
