【文章內(nèi)容簡介】 son No. 3. In 2020, I gave birth to another boy. You can imagine how fully occupied I became, raising four boys under the age of 8. Our home was a plete zoo, a joyous zoo. Not surprising, I never did make it back to college fulltime. But I never gave up on the dream, either. I had only one choice: to find a way. That meant taking as few as one class each semester. The hardest part was feeling guilty about the time I spent away from the boys. They often wanted me to stay home with them. There certainly were times I wanted to quit, but I knew I should set an example for them to follow through the rest of their lives. In 2020, I graduated from the University of North Carolina. It took me over 21 years to get my college degree ! I am not special, just singleminded. It always struck me that when you’re looking at a big challenge from the outside it looks huge, but when you’re in the midst of it, it just seems normal. Everything you want won’t arrive in your life on one day. It’s a process. Remember: little steps add up to big dreams. 45. Why did the author quit school in her second year of college? A. The guidelines, released on Wednesday, advise that both adults and children cut back on their sugar intake(攝取量 )to stay healthy. In a statement, Francesco Branca, director of the WHO’s nutrition department, said there is evidence that reducing daily sugar intake reduces the risk of being overweight and tooth decay(腐爛 ). The guidelines do not apply to the sugars in fresh fruit and vegetables or those that are naturally present in milk. According to the WHO, there is no reported evidence of negative effects of consuming those sugars. Instead, the newguidelines focus on ―added‖ or―free‖ sugars. These include sugars that are added to processed foods and drinks such as candy and soft drinks. Added sugars are sometimes described as ― hidden‖ sugars because they exist in foods we might not think of as sweets, such as honey and ketchup(番茄醬 ). Health experts advise that consumers look at ingredients on food packages to help make betterinformed decisions. The WHO remends that people in the United States,Europe and other Western societies should cut their average sugar intake by about twothirds, or down to just10% of their overall developing countries, where dental care is less advanced, the WHO remends that sugar intake be reduced to 5%. Scientist Kieran Clarke, of the University of Oxford, notes that for those peoplewho can’t shake their love for sweets, getting more exercise is a good solution. ―If you get enough exercise, you can eat almost anything,‖ she said ―But it’s very hard to avoid large amounts of sugar unless all you’re eating is fruit and vegetables.‖ can we learn from the guidelines released by the World Health Organization? A. The production of candies should be forbidden B. There is a connection between sugar intake and bad teeth. C. Fruit and vegetables contain a lot of sugar. D.
