ame when an artist from Sichuan started performing FaceChanging of Sichuan Opera. It was just like magic. He changed his face so quickly that no one could tell how he could manage that. This show gained much applause from the audience. I am glad that I took my friends from the US to the Laoshe Teahouse that evening. We had wonderful time there. I like this kind of performance. It has bee a special showcase of the essence of Chinese national culture, and a bridge connecting China with the rest of the world. Part 3 Artistic Performances Are traditional art forms performed very much in China? In some small cities and towns, where popular modern art is less introduced into, traditional art forms are still playing an important role in entertaining local people. In big cities, like Beijing and Shanghai, traditional art forms are kept well and performed a lot in big and small theatres. I think people are getting more aware of protecting our own traditions, including traditional art performances. And this is why it‘s now a fashion to go and watch a really good Beijing Opera show at a not so low price. How does TV program help to spread traditional culture? TV program helps greatly to spread traditional culture, definitely. For an obvious reason, people have easier access to a TV program than to a live show. Every one can afford it. So, with the help of TV show, more people would have the chance to be exposed to traditional culture. What benefits do you think people derive from watching performances or visiting art exhibitions? In my opinion, art is not a necessity in our life, like food and drink. But life cannot be without art. Sounds contradictory? Well, I mean, what people derive from watching performances or visiting art exhibitions is mental pleasure and satisfaction. People say art is the reflection of life. I agree. Suppose after a day of hard work, what will a piece of beautiful music bring to us? Comfort, relief, refreshment, and so many other mental enjoyment. Life is hard, but thanks to art, we bee less depressed. Describe an anization (such as a pany, a factory, a government anization or a student anization at school). You should say: where this anization is how you know about this anization what this anization does and explain how you feel about it. I joined the Youth Volunteer Association (YVA) of my university when I was a junior. I have benefited a lot from that experience. There are manystudent anizationsin my university. At the beginning of every new semester, there is a big day for all those clubs and associations torecruit. I joined the YVA because I wanted to help others. To my understanding, just like what I said at the recruitment interview, being a volunteer means totake out my personal timeto do something for others. My first volunteering experience was to give English lessons to residents from a neighourhood. Due to the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, more people are willing to learn some basic English. I major in English, so I think maybe I could help these people with myexpertise. We did it every weekend and kept doing it for almost three months. I not only gave lessons to people, more importantly, I municated with them. Many of them are older than me. They e from all walks of life. They brought to class different life stories. I exchanged my school experiences with their social experiences. Sharing with them has added to my insight into the world I am living in,which was a good thingfor someone like me who did not have much access to the real world outside school campus. My association offers the young good chance to be helpful, to get to know more people, to learn something that‘s not written on the text book. Part 3 Working in an Organization What would you prefer to work in, a big anization or a small one? If I were a graduate freshly out of school, I would prefer to work in a big anization. Big anizations have advantages that small anizations don‘t. As a new graduate, I cherish very much the future development opportunity that big anizations could offer. If I worked for many years, I would prefer to work in small anizations. They are less strict with the employees. They give me more space to turn my ideas into reality. What are the benefits of working in a small anization? It‘s more flexible in terms of rules and limitations. People can create their own anization culture. With fewer people working for it, every one is important, every one‘s voice can be heard. Besides, it‘s easier for a small group of people to reach on an agreement on some issues. It cuts down the time anizations spend on decision making, which is a very good thing in today‘s timeracing world. What are the benefits of working for a big anization? Working for a big anization makes me feel proud. I feel saferI mean they cannot fire me any time they want to without giving a sound reason, unless I do something terribly wrong and cause great loss. It‘s true that big anizations have countless rules and regulations. They seem quite a burden some time. But if I work hard and successfully finish every piece of task given by my boss, I will be approved and get what I deserve. Rules and regulations not only punish people, but also push us to work harder. Industries What kind of work do people do in your hometown? People do all kinds of work in my hometown. Teachers, businessmen, pany employees, factory workers, doctor...the list is endless, as the economy develops all the time and every day there is new job opportunity. Economy development has cultivated many new jobs, such as hourlypaid workers, baby sitters for babies and for the old, private finance adviser etc. What service industries are there in your hometown?
