By chance I cam e across an article about a doctor cal ed Lin Qiaozhi, a specalist in wom en?s diseases. She lived from 1901 to 1983 .It seem ed that she had been very busy i n her chosen carer , travli ng abored to study as wel l as writi ng books and arti cl es. O ne of them caught m y eye. It was a smal book expl ai ni ng how to keepi ng babi es cl ean, heal thy and free from si ckness. Why di d she wri te that?Who were the wom en that Li n Qi aozhi thought needed thi s advi ce?I l ooked careful y at the text and real ize that i t was i ntended for wom en i n the countrysi de. Because of the Great Lakes, they l earned, Canada has m ore fresh water than any other country i n the worl d. In fact, i t has onethi rd of the worl d?s total fresh water, and m uch of i t is i n the Great Lakes. The water fl ows i nto the N i agara Ri ver and over the fal s on i ts way to the sea. They saw the covered stadium, hom e of several famous basketbal l team s. As they wal ked north from the harbour area, Li Dai yu sai d, “Li n Fang, one of my m other?s ol d scholm ates, li ves here. I shoul d phone her from a tel ephone both.” They m et Li n Fei around dusk in downtown Chi natown, one of the three in Toronto.
