derived The observations of thecooperative secondary users SUs whose statistics fall into the censoring interval are processed by SR system Theoretical analyses and simulation results show that the proposed cooperative spectrum sensing scheme has the same detection performance and lower putational plexity pared with the method that each cooperative SU performs spectrum sensing using SRbased energy detection and its detection performance is superior than that of the conventional method that each cooperative SU performs spectrum sensing using energy detection I INTRODUCTION Cognitive radio CR technique is considered to be one of the best solutions to the inefficiency and limitation of the wireless spectrum It allows secondary users SUs to access the untapped and licensed frequency bands without causing significant harmful interference to primary users PUs So spectrum sensing plays an important role in CR system Cooperative spectrum sensing technique has attracted much attention since it can solve the hidden terminal problem effectively which is one of the critical challenging issues in spectrum sensing in CR Some research work has done for the censorbased cooperative spectrum sensing scheme recently Every cooperative SU checks its observations whether they are informative or not firstly in censoring cooperative spectrum sensing Sensor censoring scheme was proposed to decrease the munication rate in wireless sensor works in And it has been introduced for cooperative spectrum sensing in CR works used energy detection and used cyclostationary feature detection to analyze the performance of the censoring cooperative spectrum sensing scheme Since only the performance of censoring cooperative spectrum sensing based on ORrule in perfect and imperfect reporting channels with same bit error was discussed in analyzed not only the performance of censoring cooperative spectrum sensing based on ANDrule but also the spectrum sensing performance based on ORrule and ANDrule under different channel conditions introduced reputation of the SU to avoid all of the SUs sending nothing to the central unit when all of them are unreliable while solved this problem by sending decision H0 PU is absent with certain probability when the cooperative SUs were unreliable Extending sampling time for the cooperative SU whose energy statistic fell into the unreliable interval to improve the global spectrum sensing performance was proposed in Stochastic resonance SR is a nonlinear phenomenon in physics and an interesting technique for signal processing while the addition of noise to a system enhances its response to a periodic force It has been widely used in various signal processing areas including discrete time nonlinear AR models signal detectors and so on A unique property of SR is that it can be used to amplify the signal to noise ratio SNR of the input signal under certain conditions which makes it more suitable for the weak target detection problem When the input signal and the SR noise can match the spectral power amplification condition of the SR system the noise energy can be partially converted into signal energy which results in enhancing output SNR towards imum value We have introduced SR into spectrum sensing technique based on energy detection in cognitive radio in It can be found that the sensing performance can be improved significantly by using the SR technique The detection performance and the putational plexity should be considered at the same time to ensure the sensing quality A censoring cooperative scheme which can achieve optimal detection performance with lower putational plexity is proposed in this paper The cooperative SUs whose energy statistics fall into the optimal censoring interval which is constructed in the paper process their observations by SR system in the proposed scheme Most SR systems possess the ability to enhance the weak signals embedded in the strong background especially under low SNR And the signals received by the cooperative SUs whose energy statistics fall into the censoring interval are also found in low SNR so that the SR technique can be introduced to enhance the SNR and improve the detection performance of these cooperative SUs Analytical and simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve the same spectrum sensing performance as the cooperative spectrum sensing method that each cooperative SU performs SRbased energy detection The remainder of this paper is anized as follows In Section II the system model is briefly introduced Section III presents the proposed censoring cooperative spectrum sensing method based on SR in CR Section IV shows the simulation results of the proposed spectrum sensing approach FinallyII SYSTEM MODEL The essence of spectrum sensing problem in CR is to decide between the following binary hypotheses H0 PU signal is absent H1 PU signal is present We consider that K cooperative SUs and a central
