I do not know if we each have a destiny, or if we are all just floating around accidentallike on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it is both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there is anything you need, I would not be far away.” 9 Those words move lots of us. We can see Forrest is a good husband and father. So, there is a pare between Forrest and Jenny. Forrest’s love never changes, but Jenny has a lot of love inamorato. B. Keeping Promise for His Friends The most impressive scene, however, is the most dynamic: the Vietnam War. It is, for me, the high point of the film. And there Forrest meets his two friends— Bubba and Lt. Dan. To his friend, Forrest is very purehearted. 1. The Promise for Bubba When being sent to the Vietnam War, the scene of offering seat is again performed, Forrest accept the offer from a young African American a man named Bubba, who is also from Alabama and has a goal to be a shrimp boat captain. Forrest thinks he is very adapt to army life, because his boss praises him like a genius. That is the pure Forrest Gump. Bubba is innocent and not very bright on the surface but turns out to have a remarkable amount of knowledge. The driver even shouts to him. No one care who he is. But Forrest and Bubba see in each other decency and goodness along with substantial abilities, and this makes them good friends “l(fā)ike brothers and stuff”. Bubba likes shrimp very much, so the conversation between them is all about Bubba’s dream— wants to be a shrimp boat captain. And Bubba also tells Forrest lots of knowledge about shrimp. Although Forrest dose not understand what Bubba said, he does know Bubba wants to be a shrimp captain. So when Bubba is killed, Forrest carries out an obligation to his friend to take care of his family. This promise is not an easy promise to keep, because it seems that Bubba’s family dose not appreciate Forrest’s help. But Forrest manages to achieve the promise through determined effort, intense loyalty, and a little luck. He follows up on Bubba’s plan and gives Bubba’s mother her share. Forrest’s simple, literal interpretation of everything around him and his tenacity and loyalty to a dead friend, a disabled lieutenant and others turn him into a model soldier earning him the Congressional Medal of Honor, a business partner, a fortunate being, and a friend for life. That is Forrest! A lot of people give other person promise easily, but a few people can carry their promise out. 2. The Promise for Lieutenant Dan Besides Bubba, there is another friend Forrest has made in the army— that is Lieutenant Dan. Lt. Dan was born and brought up in a military family and he is on his way to be an excellent soldier. But this promising ambition is destroyed in the Vietnam War. Lt. Dan bees legless through a war injury, which is a nearly fatal strike to him. Although Forrest saves his life, he plains about his destiny. “I was supposed to die in the field with honor. That was my destiny and you cheated me out of it. Now I am nothing but a goddamned cripple, a legless freak. This was not supposed to happen. Not to me. I had a destiny. I was Lieutenant Dan Taylor.” 10 In Lt. Dan’s mind the war is her life, he should die in that furious battle. He thinks the world is unfair. But Forrest cares nothing about it and regards Lt. Dan as his mander both physically and emotionally. When they meet again, Forrest tells Lt. Dan about his promise to Bubba. But Lt. Dan does not understand him and even laugh at him. So Forrest makes his other promise to Lt. Dan. At last he also carried his promise out. Forrest lets Lt. Dan change his life. And we also can see Forrest changes his mind. Destiny is on your own hand. We can see Lt. Dan picks up his confidence in that hurricane. It is so moving when Lt. Dan says to Forrest “I never thanked you for saving my life.” 11And at last Lt. Dan has new legs, fianc233。s my time. It39。s just my time. Oh, now, don39。e, and also, in a rational sense makes peace with God. C. The Attitude towards Success\Failure Although Forrest Gump is unfortunately born with a rather low IQ and the muscle problem, he has already created a miracle and achieved many of incredible successes. 1. As a Master Sportsman of Rugby Forrest is a very simple man. I think that it is the thievery reason that leads him to great success. He bees a football star just in a chance. What he knows is running. He even does not know what the rule is. But he does know his mother is very happy, and that is enough. a Hero of Vietnam War After leaving school, he is a war hero in Vietnam War because he saved lots of soldiers. We can see that Forrest is so brave and kindhearted. Someone said Forrest has had such incredible success just because of his luck. But I do not think so. At first, Forrest has ran away from that dangerous place just like Jenny tells him before, but when he runs to a safe place he finds his friends Bubba is not following him and he is also in that place. So he runs back to help Bubba. But on his way to save Bubba, there are lots of soldier asked for help.
