see up close and personal what being president really looks I39。s how they raised us...that39。s grandmother started out as a secretary at a munity bank...and she moved quickly up the ranks...but like so many women, she hit a glass for years, men no more qualified than she was – men she had actually trained – were promoted up the ladder ahead of her, earning more and more money while Barack39。d picked me up for our dates in a car that was so rusted out, I could actually see the pavement going by through a hole in the passenger side door...he was the guy whose proudest possession was a coffee table he39。re going to run marathons...in the young man blinded by a bomb in Afghanistan who said, simply, “...I39。ve heard, I have seen the very best of the American have seen it in the incredible kindness and warmth that people have shown me and my family, especially our 39。Professor Oi, and the Stanford Center。Chairman Zhu。s service and sacrifice...and we will always have your the past few years as First Lady, I have had the extraordinary privilege of traveling all across this everywhere I39。ve seen it in our men and women in uniform and our proud military families...in wounded warriors success in life – being able to earn a decent living that allowed him to support his as I got to know Barack, I realized that even though he39。s success or care that others had much more than they Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help women get equal pay for equal 39。s why Barack has fought so hard to increase student aid and keep interest rates down, because he wants every young person to fulfill whether you39。s who we are as Americans...it39。t just visit palaces and parliament and meet with heads of also e to schools like this one to meet with students like we believe that relationships between nations are not just about relationship between governments or leaders…they’re about relationships between people, particularly our young we view study abroad programs not just as an educational opportunity f or students…but also as a vital part ofAmerica’s foreign see, through the wonders of modern technology, our world is more connected than ever can cross ocean with the click of a can do business and plete with panies across the we can text, and skype with people on every studying abroad isn’t just a fun way to spend a semesterit’s quickly being the key to success in our global getting ahead in today’s workplaces isn’t just about getting good grades or test scores in school…it’s also about having real experience with the world beyond your bordersit’s also about shaping the future of your countries and of the world we all when it es to the defining challenges of our timeyou do it by improving yourself in someone’s culture…by learning each other’s stories…and
