Nowadays, business English has bee an essential munication tool in the world’s economic activities. The paper studies the linguistic characteristics of business English letter and its translation. The article includes four parts. Chapter one, introduction, shows the research background and purpose of studying this article. Chapter two introduces the linguistic characteristics of business English letter from such three aspects as tone, vocabulary and sentence structure. Chapter three expounds translation strategy of business English letter including addition, omission, conversion, division and idioms translation. Chapter four makes a conclusion that only in right way can we translate the business English letter well, thus we can make sure the business activities are successful and build up a munication bridge to both sides.Business English letter increasingly plays an important role in the international business activities, thus, people pay more attention on studying business English letter. Business English letter is a professional trade record in mercial activities with its special linguistic characteristics and distinct principles. We must specially focus on the translation principles and its accuracy. The purpose of this study is to promote the translation of business English letter, conveying information accurately and faithfully. Through the analysis of business English letter, we could not only have a more indepth understanding of business English letter writing, but it has a certain instructive significance in studying the linguistic characteristics and the translation of business English letter.Key words: business English letter。商務英語信函在國際商務活動中扮演的角色越來越重要，商務英語信函的研究也隨之越來越受到人們的普遍重視。論文共包括四章。本論文對商務英語信函的語言特征及其翻譯進行了研究。第三章從增譯法、省譯法、轉譯法、分譯法及習慣術語的譯法五個方面探討了商務英語信函的翻譯方法和策略，第四章結論指出使用正確的翻譯方法才能寫出上乘的商務英語信函，保證商務活動順利進行，搭建貿(mào)易雙方溝通的橋梁。通過對商務英語信函的語言特點分析，不僅能夠使我們對商務英語信函的寫作有了更深入的了解，而且對商務英語信函的語言特征的研究及其翻譯規(guī)范和使用也具有一定的指導意義。 municative
