Anyhow their performances were hum orous enough to be copi ed by other groups. They were so popul ar that their fans formed clubs in order to get more famil iar with them. Each week on TV, the Monkees would play and si ng songs written by other m usi ci ans. H owever, after a year or so i n whi ch they becam e m ore seri ous about thei r work, the Monkees started to pl ay and si ng their own songs l i ke a real band. Then they produced their own records and started touri ng and playing their own musi c. In the USA they becam e even m ore popular than the Beatl es and sol d even more records. The band broke up about 1970, but happil y they reuni ted in the m i d1980s. They produced a new record i n 1996, wi th whi ch they cel ebrated their form er time as a real band. Luckil y before al of them were kil ed, some were taken to Britai n to improve the envi ronm ent of the beauti ful park whi ch bel onged to the Duke of e li ked them so m uch that he took them al l the way from China to Bri tain. The Mil u deer li ked the cool, wet weather i n England and thei r number increased year by year. As a result, when in 1985 the governm ent of Chi na wanted to rei ntroduce the Mil u deer,the Duke of Bedford was happy to hel p. The fi rst deer cam e back to Chi na to the N anhaizi Mil u Park 20 ki lom eters south of Beijing and the centre i n Dafeng, Jingsu Province.
