The concept of emotional intelligence is brought forward first by Yale university psychologist, Peter Salovey (1990). H states that the emotional intelligence is to monitor one’s personal emotions or to identify feelings of others, and identify and use these signals to guide one’s thoughts and actions. Since then EQ became known to the public and gradually was paid attention to in the field of education. In recent years, the domestic and foreign experts have done the further study on emotional intelligence, and they point out that EQ is an indispensable ability to one’s success. Nowadays, in the English class, teachers instruct students and explain questions basically in English. And students are also required to use English in class. However, the students in middle schools can’t speak well. Their vocabulary and expressive ability are limited too. In order to encourage students to learn English in class, body language is required. For, it can stimulate students’ interest in English class. So that it can make the classroom atmosphere active, invoke the student’s enthusiasm for study, and lead the student to understanding English easily. In middle schools, using body language in English teaching is necessary and important. Generally speaking, body language can arouse and sustain the student’s interest in English class.
