Half the American students’ ine is provided by their parents and the remainder is from their parttime job and the scholarship. Chinese students, on the other hand, get the absolute majority of their ine from their parents, while ine from other two channels accounts for a small percentage. In my opinion, there are some main reasons for the phenomenon. To begin with, American students are taught to be independent right from childhood while Chinese parents care so much for their children that it is almost unthinkable for college students to live on their own. In addition, Chinese students have fewer opportunities to find parttime job. What’s more, scholarship provided by universities and governments in China is much less than that in America. Nevertheless, more and more Chinese students are seeking parttime jobs nowadays. They are eager to acquire some social skills and earn extra money which will make them less dependent on their parents.
