In the last 15 years, pilots have reported well over 100 incidents that could have been caused by electromagnetic interference. The source of this interference remains unconfirmed, but increasingly, experts are pointing the blame at portable electronic devices such as portable puters, radio and cassette players and mobile telephones.RTCA,an organization which advises the aviation(航空)industry, has remended that all airlines ban(禁止)such devices from being used during ’critical’ stages of light, particularly take off and landing. Some experts have gone further, calling for a total ban during all flights. Currently, rules on using these devices are left up individual airlines. And although some airlines prohibit passengers from using such equipment during takeoff and landing, most are reluctant to enforce a total ban, given that many passengers want to work during flights. The difficulty is predicting how electromagnetic fields might affect an aircrafts puters.Experts know that portable devices emit radiation which affects those wavelengths which aircraft use for navigation and munication. But,because, they have not been able to reproduce these effects in a laboratory, they have no way of knowing whether the interference might be dangerous or not.The fact that aircraft may be vulnerable(易受損的)to interference raises the risk that terrorists may use radio system in order to damage navigation equipment. As worrying, though,is the passenger who cant hear the instructions to turn off his radio because the music39。s too loud.1. The passage is mainly about . A.a(chǎn) new regulation for all airlines B.the defects of electronic devices C.a(chǎn) possible cause of aircraft crashes D.effective safety measures for air night2.What is said about the over 1 00 aircraft incidents in the past 1 5 years? A. They may have been caused by the damage to the radio systems. B. They may have taken place during take off and landing. C.They were proved to have been caused by the passengers portable puters. D.They were suspected to have resulted from electromagnetic interference.3. Few airlines want to impose a total ban on their passengers using electronic devices because . A. they don’t believe there is such a danger as radio interference B. the harmful effect of electromagnetic interference is yet to be proved C. most passengers refuse to take a plane which bans the use of radio and cassette players D.they have other effective safety measures to fall back on4. Why is it difficult to predict the possible effects of electromagnetic fields on an airplanes puters? A. Because it is extremely dangerous to conduct such research on an airplane. B. Because it remains a mystery what wavelengths are liable to be interfered with.C. Because research scientists have not been to produce the same effects in labs. D. Because experts lack adequate equipment to do such research5. It can be inferred from the passage that the author . A. is in favor of prohibiting passengers use of electronic devices pletely B. has overestimated the danger of electromagnetic interference C.hasn’t formed his own opinion on this problem D.regards it as unreasonable to exercise a total ban during flight四、單詞拼寫1. 。 , 6. 7. 程度。 8. 翼, 9. 。 五、詞形轉(zhuǎn)換1.What developed was a music readily taking on various forms and capable of an almost (limit)range of expression.2.With the strike (settle),the work on the new assembly line went ahead like wildfire.六、漢譯英1.收縮的過程如此強(qiáng)烈,以至于形成了黑洞。2.已經(jīng)采取了新措施來幫助保護(hù)家傭。七、英譯漢Since pleasure is the first good and natural to us,for this very reason we do not choose every pleasure ,but sometimes we pass over many pleasures, when greater disfort accrues to us as the result of them;and similarly we think many pains better than pleasures, since a greater pleasure es to us when we have endured pains for a long time.Every pleasure then because of its natural kinship to us is good, yet not every pleasure is to be chosen;even as every pain also is an evil, yet not all are always of a nature to be avoided. Yet by a scale of parison and by the consideration of advantages and disadvantages we must form our judgment on all these matters. For the good on certain occasions we treat as bad,and conversely the bad as good.■模擬試題一、單項(xiàng)選擇題1.I have no idea what’s standing acplishing our goals ans objectives.A. in the way of B. on the way to C. by way of D. in one’s way of 2. we understand what Jet Lag is,we can go some way to overing it.A.Rather than B.As though C.Ever since D.Now that makers must have some way of determining several alternatives is best.A.which B.what C.of which D.which of4.Never before so rapidly developing as it today.A.has our country beenB.our country has beenC. has been our countryD.our country hasn’t been5.It could obscure man’s awareness of the need to e with himself.A.into play B.to terms C.into force D.true6.The doctors are about the guidelines under which they can carry out euthanasia.A.a(chǎn)t a stretch B.a(chǎn)t a loss C.a(chǎn)t random D.a(chǎn)t length7. the two clocks would normally sound their alarms together, now they ring at different times.A.
