Shanxi Geological Survey, Taiyuan 030001, ChinaAbstract: The research of the soil is at the starting stage and still lack systematic research and discussion in Taiyuan. This paper analyses the soil heavy metal in Taiyuan and it’s pollution types and sources based on the factor analysis. On the foundation of measure in the area soil, adopting the urban simple point soil form methods of gathering, and by analyzing the experimental results of soils sample in Taiyuan city, we obtain the content data of the heavy metal elements (As, Cd, Hg, Pb, Cr, Ni, Zn, and Cu)。s enterprise, and contrasted six host factor of factor analysis, it is sorted and analyzed. The research result of factors analysis can sufficiently reflects Taiyuan as a typical heavy pollution characteristic of chemical base and coalfired city. Finally it indicates there are four respects in main sources of soil heavy metal pollution, which involve the pollution sources of industrial and mining enterprises, coalfired pollution sources, traffic pollution sources, business activity and resident39。 Taiyuan。 pollut
