【正文】 the importance of making friends. B. To tell about advantages and disadvantages of making friends. C. To tell us how to make friends step by step. D. To tell us that friends are hard to make. B A new plahunting technique has detected the most earthlike pla yet around a star other than our sun, raising hopes of finding a space rock that might support life, astronomers (天文學(xué)家 ) reported recently. “This is an important discovery to answer the question ?Are we alone??” said Michael Turner of the National Science Foundation. “The team has discovered the most earthlike pla yet, and more importantly, has proved the power of a new technique that is sensitive (靈敏的 ) to detecting plas that are fit for people to live on,” Turner said in a statement. In the last decade, astronomers have detected more than 160 plas moving around stars outside our solar system. Most of these have been gas giant plas like Jupiter, which are unfit for life. But an international team has detected a cold pla about times more massive than the earth — still small enough to be considered earthlike — moving around a star about 20,000 light years away, close to the center of the Milky Way. To find this new pla, the team used a technique called gravitational microlensing (引力微觀透鏡法 ). When a pla is circling the closest star, the pla?s gravity can add its own signature to the light. This kind of light signature was observed on July 11 by a group of telescopes in a project known as OGLE, short for Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment. “The main advantage of microlensing is the signals for lowmass plas: They?re not weak signals. They?re just rare,” Bent of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana said by telephone. “If there happens to be a straight line between a foreground star with its pla and the background source star, then you?re able to detect that pla.” 69. The underlined word “detected” in Paragraph 1 probably means “_________”. A. discovered B. destroyed C. created D. searched 70. The author?s purpose in writing this passage is to ____. A. prove that scientists have a lot of difficulties in doing scientific research B. explain why this pla moves around a star like our sun C. teach the readers some basic knowledge about the universe D. tell people about a new technique that finds the most earthlike pla moving round another star 71. From the news report we can infer that _________. A. the pla is like the earth because it is close to the center of the Milky Way B. it is quite possible that life may exist on other plas in the universe C. people have no interest in finding a pla that might support life D. the question “Are we alone” is too difficult for scientists to answer 72. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage? A. The signals ing from lowmass plas are too weak to be noticed. B. Most of the discovered plas are not fit for people to live on. C. If a star with its pla happens to be in line with the source star, then the pla can be found. D. The power of the new technique is proved by the discovery of the earthlike pla. C Shakespeare said that some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon(強加 ) them. So it is with leadership. Some men are born with the ability of leadership. Some gain that art by watching and studying the actions of those around them. Other persons find themselves thrown into unusual situations which require them to draw on resources they never realized they had, and events bring out marked leadership. Most of us are never put to such tests. Most of us are not born leaders. We often hear people say, He39。s attitudes toward the job, the supervisor and the pany. Where it exists, it has been developed over a period, as a result of three simple factors: confidence, cooperation and understanding of their supervisor who understands them, appreciates their efforts, and tries to give them all a fair deal. 73. At the beginning of the passage, Shakespeare39。s style B. to help describe different kinds of leaders C. to stress the importance of good leadership D. to show the writer39。s ideas 74. What does the underlined word it refer in Where it exists in the last paragraph? A. The onetoone relationship between the supervisors and the workers. B. A good supervisor39。s willingness to work hard. 75. The best title for the passage is ___________. A. Supervisors and Workers B. Shakespeare on Leadership C. The Importance of the Art of Leadership D. Good Supervisors Are Born Rather than Made 第 II 卷 (非選擇題 ) 第一節(jié): 單詞拼寫 (滿分 5分) 76. One of my teeth aches today, so I have to go to the d____________. 77.
