T: Wars are fought for many different reasons. Some are fought for the good of mankind. Others are the result of man’s greed and prejudices. Now I’d like you to make a presentation about the reasons. Your presentation should include the following three questions. 1. For what reasons could wars be fought for the good of mankind? 2. List some wars in history that fought for the justice of mankind. 3. List wars that were fought for reasons of greed or prejudices. Students are given 15 minutes to present their reasons. Only one in each group is given the chance to present the reasons in front of the class. Step III Vocabulary Ask students to read Lexicon, page 104. Then deal with Ex 7 on Page 25. When doing Ex 5, if necessary, encourage students to use a good dictionary. Step IV Practice Deal with the exercises in Lesson 3 in Language Power on Page 70. The key to the exercises is to practice the given words. So it is vital to make sure students aware the meaning of every given word. Ex 1 is a bit difficult for students.
