The works of Kafka have been recognized as irrational and surreal, and with the help of the symbolic tactics called metamorphoses, one fifth of them utilized animal metaphors or took animals as protagonists to express themes. The Metamorphoses is his the most representative opus. In this article, these two works are used as examples to illustrate how Kafka, drawing the support from metamorphoses of human, unfolded the conflicts between human versus human, human versus society, and human versus himself. Not a national spokesperson or an era spokesperson he is, Kafka is more like a prophet of the future, as his works not only manifested the tragedy of the time, but also presaged the survival predicaments of the modern society by the means of metamorphoses.
