s,ranging from social networks to manmade technological networks. It seems that powerlaw is ubiquitous. However, it is undesirable for people to draw the conclusion that a new network shows powerlaw distribution just by plotting the node degree distribution in loglog scale without considering the evolution mechanisms of the network itself. For example, the network evolution mechanisms have not been considered in the characterization of the recently popularized P2P network.
