【正文】 tor, a long talk, I successfully became one of the members of the laboratory of development at the Harbin Institute of Technology(HIT).With professional knowledge and experimental skills acquired during the previous two years, I adapted to the specific experimental rules of the laboratory drive and mitment to excellence proved me worthy of the only two weeks, I was granted permission to start my own project under the instruction of : the identification of a novel imprinted gene and its expression analysis in mouse the collaboration between my lab and a bioinformatics program at Harbin Medical University,I found several genes that were possible to be imprinted, working towards identifying a novel imprinted the process of designing my project, I read a great deal of papers downloaded from PubMed and consulted Molecular Cloning(the third edition, , )and Manipulating the Mouse Embryo(the third edition, Andras Nagy, Marina Gertsenstein, Kristina Vintersten, Richard Behringer).With the above preparation and painstaking calculation of experimental period, I selected the most suitable and efficient contents as main sections of my project include 1)identification of a specific gene’s imprinting status in seven organs(brain, tongue, heart, lung, liver, kidney and placenta)by sequencing directly, 2)performance of ISH on the slides of mouse embryos and Statement of Purpose Jing Li(My application ID: 1075276。UT EID: jl49345)For Graduate Program of Cell and Molecular Biology, the University of Texas at Austin placentas at , 3)performance of quantitative realtime RTPCR(QRTPCR)of this gene in seven organs, and 4)analysis of possibly influential mechanisms of the imprinting such as DNA methylation or histone needed, Northern Blotting would be performed in order to confirm the number of of now, I have pleted all my experiments and am revising my paper to explain my findings, which I plan to publish in the near operative skills and satisfactory results, as well as my mitment to meticulous scientific research have earned me the recognition of my research mentor, semester, I got a chance to be the teaching assistant for “Identification of Imprinted Gene and Relative Function Analysis”, a class designed for all students including seniors, and was responsible for overseeing the student only a junior, I was honored by such recognition and opportunity to accept this class, I showed the method of identifying another possibly imprinted gene using a specific restriction also allowed me chances to utilize my municative abilities and social skills gained from extracurricular activities, such as hosting lectures held by my union or being a teaching assistant for Michigan State University(MSU)Chinese Summer School at from my project work, my stellar academic record at HIT conveyed my ability to excel in the biological sciences, and qualified me to attend a summer school of life science in University of Science and Technology of China(USTC)on full experienced advanced methodology from the professors of USTC and had the opportunity to use advanced technology, such as MRI and graduate students39。 knowledge and skills impressed me greatly and gave me the drive to seek a school will enable me to develop new research skills and the solid academic background that I need to bee a successful in Cell and Molecular Biology will not only cultivate and refine my interest in scientific research, but also equip me to deal with the challenges of with experimental operations in genetic, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, believe that I have all the necessary assets needed to be a good scientist。as far as my life’s priorities are concerned, devotion to mastery of the biological sciences is second to for the future, I hope to work in academia as a believe the University of Texas at Austin is the institution best capable of helping me reach this goal because it offers a superb method of study, stressing the importance of understanding and employing different modalities of have interest in the study of epigenetics and hope to gain a greater understanding of such topics through future doctorate plan to specialize in epigenetic regulation including DNA methylation, histone modification and their effects on gene also recognize the value of exploring a variety of other orientations in biology, such as noncoding microRNA regulation in development, environmentallyinduced epigenetic change, stem cell biology, the University of Texas at Austin also allows students to plete research rotations in at least three different faculty laboratories in their first year, it offers me several opportunities from which to choose, making the University of Texas at Austin an even more ideal school for me.
