One year, the weather was so dry that no food would grow. 有一年，天氣太干旱了，以至于糧食顆粒不長。 例如本單元的這個句子： That bird’s song is so beautiful that we would follow it. we thought… 表示人們對過去的某種想法，判斷等，可以譯作“我們原想 ……。 我們本以為 ……” 。 如： I thought he would e, but he didn’t. 2. We thought you were never ing back. 我以為你們再也回不來了。 此句中 made of bread, cake and sugar作定語，修飾名詞 house, 形容詞 wonderful也是 house的定語。在英語中，大部分形容詞作定語修飾名詞時應(yīng)前置，短語或句子作定語修飾名詞時則后置。 3. It’s leading us to that wonderful house made of bread, cake and sugar. 它在把我們引向那座由面包，蛋糕和糖 果做成的美妙小屋。 4. The wife told her husband that unless he left the children to die in the forest, the whole family would die. 妻子告訴丈夫，如果他不把孩子們 扔到森林里讓他們自生自滅，整個 家庭就會滅亡。 unless的意思是“如果不，若非，除非”，它引導(dǎo)的是一個條件狀語從句，相當(dāng)于if…not 。因此，上面的句子改寫為 : …if he didn’t leave the children to die in the forest, the whole family would die. as soon as 表示 “一 …… 就 ……” ， 再如本單元的這個句子： As soon as you wake up, you must go to the forest with your 來就必須和爸爸去森林里。 5.
