【文章內(nèi)容簡介】 here are few responsibilities to make life difficult. If a child has good parents, he is fed, looked after and loved, whatever he may do. It is impossible that he will ever again in his life be given so much without having to do anything in return. What39。s more, life is always giving new things to the childthings that have lost their interest for older people because they are too wellknown. But a child has his pains: he is not so free to do what he wishes to do。 he is repeatedly being told not to do something, or being punished for what he has done. When a young man starts to make his own living, he can no longer expect others to pay for his food, his clothes, and his room, but has to work if he wants to live fortably. If he spends most of his time playing about in the way that he used to as a child, he will go hungry. And if he breaks the laws of society as he used to break the laws of his parents, he may go to prison. If, however, he works hard, keeps out of troubles and has good health, he can have the great happiness of building up for himself his own position in society. 61. According to Paragraph 2,the writer thinks that _______. A. life for a child is fairly easy B. a child is always loved whatever he does C. a child must do something in return for what he gets D. only children are interested in life 62. The main idea of the passage is that ____________. A. life is not enjoyable since each age has some pains B. young men can have the greatest happiness if they work hard C. childhood is the most enjoyable time in one39。s life D. one is the happiest if he can make good use of each age in his life 63. The paragraph following this passage will most probably discuss _________. A. examples of successful young men B. how to build up one39。s position in society C. what to do when one has problems in life D. joys and pains of old people C We first think of the traditional or nuclear family. This is a twogeneration family, the father, the mother and their own children. Most couples wanted to have four children, two boys and two girls. Some nuclear families, however, may add one or more grandparents to e to live with them, which is three generations. This kind of family with grandparents, parents, and grandchildren is called extended family. This family type was not very mon during the later half of the twentieth century, but it39。s being more mon now as an elderly grandparent moves in to live with a son or daughter. This is more possible now that American homes have bee larger. What is interesting, however, is that after the grandchildren move out of the home and start their own families, this extended family shrinks(收縮 ) back to a nuclear family, with just two generations again living together, a grandparent and parents, with the grandchildren ing only for occasional visits. Now, the fatherless or motherless family is one kind of what we call a singleparent family. In the fatherless family it39。s just the mother and her children. This can be the result of the husband39。s death, of an unmarried mother, or of a separation or divorce. There are also a growing number of motherless familieswhere the father raises the children, for any of the same reasons. A fatherless family may also be motherless, but still a family with one adult. This is being more mon in the big cities where a grandmother will raise her daughter39。s children while the daughter goes elsewhere to work. One other new kind of family is being increasingly more mon. A single parent with one or more children will marry again. Perhaps the other parent is also a single parent. Together they will start what is called a blended family, which blends together or bines the children of two families. 64. An extended family
