Therefore, the interpreters’ ability is the basic element affecting the interpretation of Chinese classical poetry. Meanwhile, Albir explained the principle of faithfulness in translating or interpreting in Translation, the Interpretive Model (20xx). One should be faithful to the author’s intention and be in accordance with the specific manners of expression of the target language and the target readers. The three criteria work together indispensably and should all be taken into account at the same time. To be faithful only to one factor regardless of the others is also a betrayal to the sense. Therefore, the interpreter ought to be loyal to the words of the speaker. Limitations of studies in Chinese classical poetry interpreting In terms of Chinese classical poetry interpreting in press conference, various experts and scholars have had very profound studies from different perspectives. However, there are several flaws of interpreting studies existing both in China and foreign countries, namely lacking experimental target, lacking motivations and lacking related subjects and theories. Parts of them introduce the basic knowledge of Chinese classical poetry and some of them present to us the preparation work of interpreting Chinese classical poetry. There are more and more opportunities for China to conduct exchanges with the outside world, as a result, press conferences are held frequently. Premier Wen Jiabao has a profound interest in Chinese classical poetry, the essence of the Chinese culture. He very often quoted Chinese classical poetry in press conference to convey his political views. To interpret those lines smoothly and accurately is not easy. This essay attempts to make an analysis on Chinese classical poetry interpreting in press conference from four aspects, taking the case of the lines quoted by Premier Wen Jiabao in press conference. The first part mainly introduces the origin, definition and characteristics of press conference interpreting. The second part gives a preliminary introduction to the features of the Chinese classical poetry and the reason and function of quoting the poetry. The third part tries to introduce the interpreting criteria and principles of Chinese classical poetry interpreting. The forth part introduces the strategies utilized in interpreting Chinese classical poetry.
