It started to recruit postgraduate students in 1964, offer master’s program in 1980 and . program in 1984, and establish the postdoctoral station in 2001. The Department has 1 national key discipline for nonferrous metallurgy, 2 provincial key disciplines for nonferrous metallurgy and physical chemistry of metallurgy, 1 national engineering laboratory for vacuum metallurgy, and 1 provincial key laboratory for vacuum metallurgy of nonferrous metals.
