24) Anxiety is a kind of fear。 if there is no listening prehension, phonetics will lose its existing value. That is because sound is the direct medium of listening and speaking. Only by using correct sound, can students express their views and ideas accurately. while to the latter one, if students know quite little about Easter Day, they will find it is very difficult for them to answer some questions about it during the process of listening.. Lack of listening skillsIn listening prehension, the newheard sound will be kept for about one second in echo memory, during which students match sound and word with linguistic knowledge and put the word in shortterm memory. The function of shortterm memory is to remember the word until listener organize the word into sentence and grasp the idea of it, then clear up the memory of the word to keep another newheard information. If students try to remember each word and sentence, shortterm memory will be overloaded, and many words will be cleared up before being organized, thus they can just remember the last sentence they heard. So students should grasp some listening skills to improve their ability of listening. For example, when they heard a new word, they always try to recall their memory instead of surpassing that word and get new information in order to grasp the main idea. Also, they are not good at taking notes and catching the main information while listening.4. Strategies in reducing high anxiety. Teachers’ strategies in reducing students’ high anxiety “Teaching is nothing if it is not relationships”. (Chi Yong, 2004: 47) The first goal teachers should achieve is to build a positive, friendly, supportive relationship with students. To establish harmonious relationship between teachers and students, teachers should encourage and mend the students progress in order to enhance their selfconfidence. Teachers’ tolerant attitude and encouragement will make them build up confidence to overe difficulties, and will never be afraid of it..To protect students’ selfesteem and build up their confidenceListening learning is very difficult. The listening is specific transientand nonrepeatability, because of linguistic factors and the impact of nonlinguistic factors, people can not receive and output the accurate information. Therefore, it is very normal for one to encounter some difficulties and setbacks in the listening process. The listener should establish their confidence and overe adverse psychological barriers. They should turn pressure into motivation to persevere, and ultimately will produce results. Teachers must first tell the students who lack selfconfidence: there is more confidence, there will be more progress. When they answer the question, the teacher should listen to them with the expression of smile and appreciation, and encourages them silently. when they give the right answer, teachers should use slightly exaggerated language to praise them timely. That will make them feel the joy of success。 students, can be asked to tick the sound which is pronounced: for example, “safesave”. Students can be asked to identify whether the two sounds are the same: for example, “l(fā)ownow, knownew”. It is also important to be able to identify stress and intonation, because different stress and intonation may imply different meanings in the same sentence.. Practice for the tempo of speakingThe tempo of speaking is another painful thing for most students. Students plain that they cannot catch up with the speakers while doing listening practice, because they must memorize, store, classify, understand and respond to the information they hear. It is a quite difficult task for them. To solve this problem, firstly teachers can slow down the speed of speaking and pause after some sentences for students to think over and understand the contents, and then teachers gradually speed up the tempo of speaking and add the listening contents so that students can adapt to the average speed. Secondly, students can begin with the repetition of phrases, shorter sentences and then longer sentences. While doing this practice, students must pay great attention to the speaker in order to repeat. Repetition requires students to skillfully master the phonetic, intonation, grammar, vocabulary knowledge and rules, and they also must strengthen their ability of recognition and translation. At first, students will find that it is not easy for them to repeat, but if keep doing this practice, students will realize that they are used to repeating sentences, and then they will feel that the information going into their ears is not lost so quickly, and gradually they can catch up with the speaker. These two methods are useful in training students listening ability.. Enlarge vocabulary Vocabulary is the foundation of a language. Listeners must have enough vocabulary for their improvement in listening because vocabulary affects listening directly. If students do not have enough vocabulary, they will be nervous when they e across some unfamiliar words or phrases, which will affect students’ global understanding of the listening text. Therefore, students must try every method to increase their vocabulary.. Strengthen grammarGrammar plays an important part in the analysis of written sentence structure and sentence pattern. The purpose of the analysis is to prehend the whole passage. The same is true of listening prehension of sentence. The purpose of recognition of the sentence pattern and capture of the key information is to understand the meaning of the speaker’s utterance. So listener has to have a good mand of the knowledge of grammar in order to improve his listening prehension. For example, “You should have e yesterday.” If the listener knows about the function of the subjunctive mood, he will infer in a flash that the listener should e yesterday but he did not. In addition, learning grammar in its practical sense will reinforce the listener’s understa
