【正文】 rican football is oval, like an egg. Soccer teams have eleven players on the field. American football teams have forty players .But only eleven players are on the field at one time. In a soccer team, the goalkeeper tries to stop the ball from going into the goal. He is the only player to stop and pick up the ball with his hands. In American football, all players can catch the ball with their hands. They can run with it and throw it to other players. Both the British soccer and the American football are very interesting. They can make you fit and healthy. (13) One day John took two of his friends into the mountains. They put up their tents and then rode off to a forest to see how the trees were growing. By afternoon when they were about ten kilometers from their camp, it started to snow. More and more snow fell. Soon John could hardly see his hands before his face. He could not find the road. John knew there were two roads. One road went to the camp, and the other went to John’s house. But all was white now. Everything was the same. How could he take his friends back to the camp? (14) English is very useful. But many people think it’s difficult to learn. For me, I think it’s just so much fun to learn English. If you enjoy it, you will love it and study better and better .My interest in studying English helps me find some good ways of studying English. For example, reading English books, listening to English songs, watching English programs on TV and so on! Student English Times is my favorite reading material. The newspaper helps me find so much fun in studying English. There are many interesting stories in it. I also often discuss them with my friends in English .The stories in beautiful mind are very moving. The stories in classics are meaningful. The stories in cultures open my eyes to the world. In a word, I like reading them. I think everything is difficult, but if you put your heart into it and try hard enough, you will succeed.(15) A young officer was at a railway station. On his way home, he wanted to telephone his mother to tell her the time of his train, so that she could meet him at the station in her car. Firstly, you are supposed to shake hands when you meet someone for the first time. Secondly, when you eat dinner with other people, it’s rude to point at others with your chopsticks. Besides, if you are going to a party. you are supposed to arrive at the party on time, or a few minutes late.
