【正文】 d and fortyfive petitors came to the games, representing 14 countries and peting in only seven sports. These first modern Games were rather informal. One French runner wore gloves during his race, because he was running in front of royalty(皇室成員)!Some of the athletes entered the petition personally, because they were on holiday in Greece at the time and felt like joining in. One lf these holiday makers even got two gold medals for playing tennis. The USA won the most gold medals in 1896, but the real hero of the Games was a Greek shepherd called Spiridon Louis. On the fifth and final day of the Games was the most important event, the marathon. Although the Americans had won all the other running events,Spiridon was determined to win in front of his fellow Greeks. He tried his best to get in front of all the other runners, and when he entered the Olympic playground, the 70,000 Greeks shouted loudly and cheered excitedly. Although Spiridon was very sick and tired he ran over the finish line. The whole of Greece was so proud of Spiridon that a tailor offered to give him all the clothing he needed, a restaurant owner offered to feed him, and a barber offered to cut his hair for as long as the barber lived!Since 1896, the Olympic Games have been held every four years with only three Games missed because of the two World Wars. The year 2000saw the 27th Games, held in Sydney in Australia. Today, the Games are a huge, formal event. Nearly 10,000 athletes pete in the Summer Games, and nearly 2,000 more meet in the Winter Games. Now, thanks to television, the Olympic Games are watched by people all over the world. The American television network NBC paid $785 million for the US television rights to the Sydney games.閱讀短文后,從每題所給的A、B、C、D四個選項(xiàng)上,選出最佳選項(xiàng)46.
