Dangerous goods are modities that possess potentially dangerous features. These features will not make their transportation by air dangerous, provided that suitable precautions are taken. There are internationally agreed rules to ensure the safe transportation of dangerous goods by air. These are published by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as the Technical Instructions (TI) for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air. The IATA DGR are recognized by ICAO as the field document for the transport of dangerous goods by air. The DGR is plied with ICAO Technical Instructions and in some cases are more restrictive, by taking account of industry practices or operational considerations.
