It also helps SMEs overe their disadvantages, strengthen their professional marketing expertise, enhance their market petitiveness, and promote the development of SMEs. Therefore, the information technology has bee the most important way for the small and medium enterprises to improve their own petitiveness.The actual situations of informatization in SMEs vary greatly in northern and southern area in the special transition period from planned economy to market economy in China. The great differences exist in the information technology knowledge and the management capacity on information technology procurement, investment and utilization. This thesis is to make a brief description of the process of informatization in SMEs in the northern and southern China, provide a proposal on information technology implementation and management, make sure that the investments in information technology make a real difference, and the application of information technology can be less detours, more effective. Meanwhile, this thesis will provide IT panies a new perspective to understand the business of information technology.The major methods to reduce the gaps in IT between southern and northern SMEs include: First, improve the information technology business ideas and knowledge。 Second, establish the dedicated information leading office, and conduct unified planning。 In the meantime, cultivate the specialized information technology talents.
