畢業(yè)論文(設(shè)計(jì))Abstract This thesis attempts to probe into the feasibility of the incorporation of newspapers in China’s high school English teaching by analyzing the advantages and differences of adopting newspapers as teaching resources pared with the textbooks. At present, many factors concerning the teachers, the students, the circumstances and the teaching materials influenced English teaching in China. Since teaching resource is the core of new curriculum, it is necessary to make good use of various resources especially those which are easy to obtain. Therefore, the author chooses English newspapers as teaching materials.Under the certain educational background, the author firstly studies the present situation of English teaching and learning in China carefully and puts forward the possibility and the necessity of using newspapers to enhance students’ municative language petence. Then, the author explores the theories such as input hypothesis, affective filter hypothesis, principles of municative approach and authenticity of the materials. In order to make newspaper reading easier, the author shows the features of newspapers briefly and analyzes the advantages of using them as teaching resources. Next, the author presents a newspaper teaching model and the differences of adopting newspapers and textbooks as teaching resources. The author presents the advantages and principles for good lesson planning and designs a sample lesson plan as well. Finally, the thesis concludes with the advantages and feasibility of the application as well as the limitations and the implications for China’s English teaching and learning. Teaching English by using English newspapers as supplementary teaching materials is a new type of teaching and more efforts, applications and researches can make it to the full display. Based on the attempts and discussion, the author believes that the incorporation of newspapers in China’s high school English teaching should be advocated. Key Words: incorporation English Newspapers English teaching and learning China’s High School摘 要本文通過分析報(bào)紙作為教學(xué)資源的優(yōu)勢(shì)與采用課本的不同之處,試圖探討運(yùn)用英文報(bào)紙進(jìn)行中國高中英語輔助教學(xué)的可行性問題。目前,諸如教師、學(xué)生、環(huán)境、教材等因素在很大程度上都影響著中國的英語教學(xué)。因?yàn)榻虒W(xué)資源是新課程的核心。所以充分利用各種資源,特別是容易獲得的資源在英語教學(xué)中顯得極其必要。于是,作者選擇了英文報(bào)紙作為輔助教學(xué)材料進(jìn)行探討。首先,作者在特定的教育背景下認(rèn)真分析了中國當(dāng)前英語教與學(xué)的情況并提出通過運(yùn)用報(bào)紙進(jìn)行輔助教學(xué)提高學(xué)生交際語言能力的可能性及必要性。作者接著引用輸入假說、情感過濾、交際教學(xué)法原則及材料的真實(shí)性作為支撐理論。為了使報(bào)刊閱讀更容易些,作者簡(jiǎn)要地介紹了報(bào)紙的特點(diǎn),具體分析了把報(bào)紙作為教學(xué)資源的優(yōu)點(diǎn)。然后,作者談及報(bào)刊教學(xué)模式并比較了使用報(bào)紙和教材的不同之處。與此同時(shí),作者理論聯(lián)系實(shí)際,展示了優(yōu)秀的教案的用處及其應(yīng)遵循的原則,并設(shè)計(jì)了一份以英文報(bào)紙作為教材的教案。最后,本文總結(jié)了運(yùn)用報(bào)紙進(jìn)行輔助教學(xué)的優(yōu)勢(shì)、可行性及其不足之處和對(duì)中國英語教學(xué)的啟示。 利用報(bào)紙作為輔助材料進(jìn)行教學(xué)是一種新型的教學(xué),更多的研究及嘗試運(yùn)用將使報(bào)紙的功能更好地發(fā)揮出來?;趫?bào)刊教學(xué)實(shí)驗(yàn)學(xué)校所取得的成效和文中的討論,作者認(rèn)為運(yùn)用英文報(bào)紙進(jìn)行中國高中英語輔助教學(xué)的方法值得提倡。關(guān)鍵詞:輔助教學(xué) 英文報(bào)紙 英語教學(xué) 中國高中The Incorporation of Newspapers in China’s High School English Teaching(外語系 張芳霞 指導(dǎo)教師 何家駒)Part 1. Introduction The present situation of English teaching and learning in China’s high school The information age has opened new possibilities for language instruction while advanced technology and mass media make English function as a vehicle for munication. The result is that a large number of people with good mand of English are greatly needed. However, middle school English teaching in China has mon problems such as time wasting and low efficiency because it mainly focuses on the textbooks, lacks teaching information and language input, which is not advantageous to broaden students’ horizons. The present English teaching situation is that it is lacking of an authentic languagelearning environment. The time, which English teaching in China starts, varies from place to place. In many cities it begins in upper elementary school, even in nursery. An average senior middle school student has generally spent around six years in English learning. However, the senior high school students’ municative petence needs to be improved greatly. It was reported in China Youth Daily and China English Daily that English teaching is really “a kettle of warm water that never es to the boil.” (Xiuying Ni, 2005)In order to meet the demand of the modern society, the English teachers are supposed to pay more attention to the students39。 development in their municative petence and try to gradually abandon the traditional methods which do not fit to the current circumstances. That is, the advent of municative language teaching meets the social and educational needs of China.In terms of language education, scholars, researchers and English teachers have realized that English, as a language, is totally different from other school subjects. Thus, a lot of attention has been paid to English teaching methodology. At present, the most frequently used method remains traditional method though some teachers have tried to adopt the relatively new municative approaches. However, the problem is that some teachers do not have clear ideas about the new approaches while others either find them not suitable or are not able to implement the approaches properly. Though people’s focus of language study has shifted from language knowledge to language petence, high school students still study very hard for the college entrance exam. They pay great attention to the textbooks and the exercises which are related to exams while neglecting doing different kinds of extracurriculum reading. Possibility and necessity of adopting English newspapers in China’s high school English teachingThe New Curriculum Standard of English has made a clear requirement that students in high school should have the ability to read and understand the English newspapers and magazines while the teachers should make good use of other curriculum resources such as TV, radio program recordings, images, realia, multimedia disk resources, various kinds of Internet resources, newspapers, journals and so on besides dealing with the textbooks properly.
