1. Motivation [1] What made Kaifu Lee leave Carnegie Mellon? Why did he give up the position in Apple? What casting off his position in Google to establish Innovation Works in China in 2020? The answer to all of the questions above can be a simple word, belief. Kaifu’s belief, to contribute all he has towards the education on Chinese youngsters, was gained from his father’s words that ―You should always remember that you are Chinese whenever you are, wherever you go。 so try to do something for your country.‖ To insist on this belief, Kaifu had paid much, and now, he is going on to strive with many graduate students in China to make their lives shinning. As a consequence, he eventually did it! Obviously, it is the belief at the bottom of Kaifu’s heart that motivated him to advance. [2] Pieter Zeeman, who shared the 1902 Nobel Prize in Physics with Hendrik Lorentz for his discovery of the Zeeman Effect, also grasps his belief without giving up. When he was in university, he wouldn’t like to strive anymore, as a result of addicted to fort and extravagant life. His mother was shocked when seeing his grades, with tears in her eyes. That made Zeeman e to his senses. He thought much and became regretted about wasting time and her mother’s expectations. As a consequence, Zeeman was determined to fight, fight for his grades, fight for her mother’s sweet smile. He regarded realizing his goals as motivation. Holding on this belief, Zeeman acplished his dream. Motivation: The belief at the bottom of one’s heart: Kaifulee, Zeeman the desire of realizing one’s dream: Florence Nightingale, Martin Luther King, Arnold Schwarzenegger The stimulus inside is always the fundamental factor. Undoubtedly, what motivates people to change is the innate desire of realizing one’s dream. Since everyone’s dream is consistent, it is the condition or situation which one believes to be the ultimate truth and one will never cast doubt on it. Definitely, it will not be difficult to find some pelling example to demonstrate this standpoint throughout the world. [2’] Kaifulee, one of the most famous elites in the field of information technology in the world, was graduated in Carnegie Mellon University. Each of the pany that his works in is world wide known, such as IPOD, MICROSOFE and GOOGLE. Furthermore, with his talent and hard work, they participate in numerous projects, such as the development of ―quick time‖ and make a considerable achievement. However, in 2020, his make a shocking decision and leave GOOGLE. when he was a little child, he father once told him―no matter where you go, remember you are a Chinese so try to do something for your country.‖ this has became his dream since he went abroad for further study many years ago. With this dream, he establishes innovationworks in 2020 and goes on to strive with many graduate students in China to make their lives shinning. Obviously, it is his initial dream that motivate Kaifulee to change, to change for better. [3] Another convincing example is Martin Luther King, the most famous . civil rights leader in the world. He was graduated from Boston University and became a pastor. He could choose to live peacefully everyday. However, in 1955, a black tailor refused to offer her seat to a white person and then she was detained because of this. After that, Martin Luther King decided to drop his ease life and lead a series of movement to fight for more right for black people. As we know, his famous speech outside Lincoln Memorial—I have a dream—encouraged all the black people to fight for right in a nonviolence way. He insisted on this approach to improve the condition for the black people until he was murdered in 1968. Why does he have to do this? Undoubtedly, it is not for the reputation or money but for his dream and he regard all the things he do as his responsibility. Indeed, for the realization of his ultimate dream, he can sacrifice his own life. 2. Decisions amp。 Choices [4] Michael Dell, having his first encounter with a puter at the age of 15, hold a belief that working on puters all his life. However, his parents would like him to be a doctor。 so Dell studied medical science. But Dell didn’t surrendered to his life and fet his belief. While at the university of Texas at Austin, he started a puter pany called PC’s Limited. Soon, with Dell’s steadfast belief and talent, the pany became successful. A small pany was not satisfactory. Dell dropped out of the university at the age of 19. Then, PC’s Limited ultimately became the famous Dell ,Inc. Apparently, Dell, Inc won’t exist if Dell took his parents’ advise to be a doctor. [5] Christian Dior, best known as the founder of one of the world’s top fashion houses, also called Christian Dior, made a big decision in 1947, for women’s fashion. Fabric had great uses in World War Two, so it is limited to civilian clothing. As a consequence, wartime fashions for women were dull, masculine, and conservative. Dior decided to make a new kind of clothes and start a new era. Dior created a feminine, sexy, and maternal look for women. He used his skill as a designer to accentuate a woman’s curves. However, starting a revolution isn’t that easy. No one knew what would happen – success or failure? Fortunately, his works were accepted and appreciated as soon as they were showed. Dior’s decisions defined fashion for the post World War Two era. Don’t you think Dior’s decisions, all by himself, are much better than those bined many people’s decisions? 2. Progress amp。 technology [6] Information technology was defined by the Information Technology Association of America that―the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of puterbased information systems, particularly software applications and puter hardware.‖ We are now receiving information and sending inf
