s the height of the metal bar. If you tried to walk out with an unchecked book, the gate would lock closed. Can you imagine walking into the locked gate with the bar at this height? Trapped between the doors! There are two problems with these doors. The first problem is that the handles are designed for pulling rather than pushing. Doors designed for pushing usually have handles with flat surfaces that look easy to push and hard to pull. The second problem is that the two sets of doors work in opposite ways. To pass through the walkway you must first PULL open one set of doors and then PUSH open the second set of doors. Needle in a haystack I saw this group of stop lights during a long drive from Los Angeles to Houston. The city that the stop lights are in was in the middle of a wideopen desert (like many things between LA and Houston.) The contrast between the empty desert and the stimulusrich intersection was a little overwhelming。t checked out. I get real nervous when I walk through the gate。t have people try to turn the knobs with soap on their hands because the knobs are about as smooth as glass and almost impossible to turn. This is an example of something being designed a certain way because it looks good rather than because it works well.
