Based on fundamental concepts of constructivism,characteristics and present situation of foreign language teaching,the paper takes the point that constructivism is enlightening to foreign language teaching,especially to puter assisted foreign language teaching, though it is not sound enough to be the guiding ideology of foreign language teaching.Key Words: constructivism。 characteristics and present situation of foreign language teaching。 puter assisted foreign language teaching
