However, the values and behaviors of a particular culture may not be understandable or acceptable in another culture. Thus it is necessary for us to understand the differences in friendship concept between Chinese students and western students. A research is carried out through questionnaire to find the main differences. From the data it is easy to find that Chinese attach more importance to friendship than the west, and Chinese long for lasting, stable friendship, and Chinese hold the view that it is normal to help friends and have higher expectation to friends than westerners.
