The external factors which influence starting time and emission of high pressure mon rail diesel engine, such as: intake air and coolant temperature, are studied in the paper. Test results show that: under different starting fuel quantity and main injection advance angles, preheating the intake air is beneficial for shortening starting time and reducing emission.
