We call the cradle of Han culture “Yellow River”. For thousands of years, people of our nation lived and farmed by the side of Yellow River, and it breaded Chinese people from generations to generations. We drink the water from yellow river and we eat the yellow rice, we have the yellow skin and we belong to the yellow race. Though yellow is a holy and noble color in Chinese ancient time, people endowed it with some negative meaning in modern time. Connotations of yellow in English culture For westerners, yellow is an unpleasant color, which carries the meaning of unsatisfactory and bad things.
