【正文】 d, and that students should be encouraged to evaluate or even criticize their teachers so as to improve the quality of education, whereas others fear that such a practice might give rise to indiscipline and disrespect for teachers.Proponents of such a change hold that, by encouraging students to form and voice their own opinions of their teachers and what they teach, the latter would be able to gain a better view of how what they teach is received and perceived. The teachers would be able to find out for themselves whether or not they should slow down, speak louder, be a little more demonstrative and patient, or even switch to a more suitable teaching method. More importantly, the supporters of such a change contend that this practice would further encourage students to have original ideas, gain a deeper understanding of their lessons and learn the art of disagreeing. Furthermore, feedback from the students may also help to eliminate unqualified or irresponsible teachers. Hence, proponents e to the happy conclusion that in this way students and teachers would have better munication with each other, and thus the quality of education as a whole would be greatly raised.Opponents of such a practice argue that by adopting this critical method, students might be encouraged to be a little too eager to argue, to disagree and to criticize. They might even take advantage of this wellmeant attempt to achieve their own petty purposes (such as having less homework), to make fun of the teacher, etc. In that case, the goal of teaching students to be well behaved and polite would be only a dream. At the end of the day, the opponents maintain that, as formal education is a serious matter, such a practice, though wellintended, should not be allowedAlthough both sides of the argument have their strong points, I personally agree with the former view. As to err is human, so it is the case with teachers. If the students have the chance to voice their opinions, not only will there be a cozy and liberal atmosphere in class, but both parties will benefit from the stimulus response process. Of course, all criticism and disagreement should be offered in a proper way and without ill intentions. Some people think that, as scientists contribute more to the development of our society than other people, science students should get more financial support from the government than other students do. Do you agree or disagree? Some believe that science students should receive more economic aid from the government than students of other majors such as business and language, saying that these future scientists will contribute a lot more to society than the latter. Personally, I disagree with this point of view, for the following reasons:First and foremost, both scientists and arts specialists, such as businessmen, linguists, writers, historians and philosophers, contribute equally to society. It is futile to argue about who contributes more. The actual state of affairs is simply that the inventions and technological advances achieved by scientists are, relatively speaking, easier to be perceived and put into production, thus bringing material benefits to the life of ordinary people and society at large. The achievements of other specialists in art, history, language, etc., on the other hand, broaden man39。t agree with this view, and it is my firm belief that not only will the Internet bring the world closer together, it will enable men to coexist better in the worldwide munity.First, unsurprisingly, puters and modems have transformed the world into a global village. Messages are sent instantly around the world via the Internet。s own sake as well as for the sake of better and happier coexistence. Most countries spend a large sum of money on weapons to defend themselves, even though they are not at war. Those countries should spend that money to help their citizens who are poor and disadvantaged. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? We 39。ve made money, while others are happy when they39。s reflection should make this obvious. We all know people who have a relatively easy and fortable life, and yet are essentially unhappy. And we also know people who have suffered a great deal but generally remain happy. Therefore, happiness is actually of one39。 but it is truer to say that plaining leads to people being unhappy. The second secret is realizing that happiness is a byproduct of something else. The most obvious sources are those pursuits that give our lives a purpose. These can be anything from playing tennis to studying insects. The more passions we have, the more happiness we are likely to experience. There is no denying that each and everyone of us is longing for happiness. However, we may find it difficult to find a universal definition of the concept of happiness. Diverse reasons can be identified as contributing to this situation. The following re。s goal from ultimate success to unswerving efforts and to a confidence that they will be successful one day they39。s attitude. In my opinion, there is little correlation between the circumstances of people39。 sums of money on armaments for selfdefense. No wonder there are concerned people who argue that these monetary resources would be much better spent on the elimination of poverty. Personally, I agree with this view, for the following reasons:First and foremost, the theme of today39。 and students studying abroad send voice mails to their loved ones at home, again by using the puter. Indeed, in this fastpaced world, it is impossible to conduct every social contact in a facetoface manner. Therefore, it is only too natural that efficient online munication is partly taking the place of the timeconsuming personal encounter. And why not? This online way of life has made possible much better munication among all the people on this planet, thus making socalled social isolation simply impossible. At the same
